I'm Simon and I'm a front-end developer based in Cardiff that loves creating great user interfaces.

I have over 15 years experience in a range of design, development and marketing diciplines from UI & UX through SEO & PPC to print design.

My passion is for creating performant sites, tuning for speed and page weight and building task runner based build systems.

My skillset has evolved over the last five years to focus more on performance but still engage in the whole lifecycle of front end development and design.

From creating user stories and personae for mapping out the user journey and iron out potential user experience issues; Lo-Fi paper based mockups, Photoshop / Illustrator mockups and clickable prototypes in inVision or Balsamiq; right through to coding and implementation of sites in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScipt, Razor, Angular, React and PHP - I do it all!

Lead Engineer - Confused.com / RVU

As a Lead Engineer with Confused.com I have an absolutely wonderful array of projects to work on. From building custom single page microsites for marketing out-reach and brand building, custom web components using Stencil and Typescript for use in React front ends, custom widgets for integration into SiteCore CMS pages and right through to a bespoke HTML email templating and component system for marketing and transactional emails built in MJML.

I am also heavily involved working groups for improving both the performance of the many sites we have and also the accessibility of the assets and user journeys.

Senior Front-end Developer - ActiveQuote

I have been developing user interfaces for ActiveQuote and a number of their partners including some of the giants of the UK insurance aggregator market.

As well as developing an Umbraco based CMS and quote journeys for ActiveQuote, I have also been creating UIs for a variety of insurance quote journeys developed from styleguides from the partner company.

The partner companies include Money Supermarket, Go Compare, Confused.com, Money.co.uk and uSwitch.

During the creation of Wealthify.com I worked on creating the CMS & signup journey which won Financial Services and Digital CX Innovation categories at the 2016 Digital Experience Awards.

Front-end Developer - BMJ

I worked creating several sites for the BMJ include the sites for the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare, both the European and Asian forum sites; the BMJ Masterclasses Magento based marketing site and BMJ OnExamination Magento based shop site & C# .NET online exam revision sites and mobile app.
